Base wax - CH4X
Race wax - CH4X with LF3 Cold Powder
Fluoro - FC4X Cera F powder
Notes: Bitter cold conditions with new snow. A fine cold grind is recommended.
As you drip the CH4X onto the base, crayon it as best you can at the same time. This helps to bond it together, rather than a bunch of separate drops that want to break off when you first start ironing.
Sprinkle the LF3 Cold Powder on top and iron it all in with the iron set at 155C. It will take 5 or more passes of the iron to melt the wax into the base.
After the ski has fully cooled, scrape, then brush with the Fine steel brush. Finish with a Horsehair or Boars hair brush. You should brush it out well. Polish with the Blue brush.
If the CH4X comes off in chunks when scraping, either your iron wasn't hot enough or you didn't wax long enough.
Because the iron needs to be so hot to melt these very hard waxes, move the iron faster at the tip and tail. Skis are thinner at the ends, so they heat up faster, which increases risk of burning the base.
Binder - VG35
Kick - VR30
Cover - V05 Polar
Iron in binder. Cork smooth 2-4 layers of VR30 as needed. Final layer is V05 Polar corked smooth which adds speed.
